Summer is officially over with the new school year about to start. Mark your calendars as we go through the most important dates this incoming academic year by school district.

City Schools of Decatur

If your child is enrolled at any of the schools overseen by the City Schools of Decatur, take note of the following dates.

  • August 1, 2018 – First day of school for all CSD schools
  • September 3, 2018 – School holiday: Labor Day (school offices are closed)
  • September 17-21, 2018 – Fall break
  • September 20-21, 2018 – School offices are closed
  • October 8, 2018 – Teacher workday and potential make-up day if needed
  • November 6, 2018 – Teacher workday: Professional learning
  • November 19-23, 2018 – Thanksgiving break (school offices are closed)
  • December 24, 2018 – January 4, 2019 – Holiday break (school offices are closed until January 3)
  • January 4, 2019 – Teacher workday: Professional learning
  • January 21, 2019 -School holiday: MLK Day (school offices are closed)
  • February 18-22, 2019 – Winter break
  • February 21-22, 2019 – School offices are closed
  • March 11, 2019 – Teacher workday and potential make-up day if needed
  • April 1-5, 2019 – Spring break (school offices are closed)
  • May 27, 2019 – School holiday: Memorial Day (school offices are closed)
  • May 31, 2019 – Last day of school for all CSD schools
  • June 3-28, 2019 – Summer break
  • June 24-28, 2019 – School offices are closed

If your community is served by APS or your child goes to an APS school, you would do well to remember the following dates:

  • August 1, 2018 – First day of school for all APS schools
